Mostly Dry Through The Weekend

| June 13, 2012 @ 3:30 pm

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

ALL IS QUIET: Nothing on the radar over the northern half of Alabama this afternoon, with temperatures generally in the 86 to 89 degree range. The dew point has dropped to 50 at Muscle Shoals, and 59 at Birmingham, so humidity values are low.

COMING DAYS: Looks like we stay mostly dry and warm through the weekend. We might have a day or two when you see a shower or thunderstorm on radar during the peak of the daytime heating process, but the chance of any one spot getting wet will be only in the 10 percent range through early next week. Tomorrow will be the hottest day with a high around 92, but we drop back into the mid 80s over the weekend thanks to a low level easterly flow.

AT THE BEACH: Pretty decent weather for the Gulf Coast from Panama City west to Gulf Shores through the weekend. About 7 to 9 hours of sunshine each day with just a few scattered showers and storms around. Highs will be in the upper 80s, and the sea water temperature this afternoon at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is 82 degrees.

TROPICS: Quiet now, but the GFS continues to show tropical development in the Southwest Gulf of Mexico in about 7 days… the 12Z run takes the system toward the southern tip of Texas. See the Weather Xtreme video for details.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. Scroll down for the show notes on the new episode we recorded last night.
