Triple Digit Weekend

| June 29, 2012 @ 3:13 pm

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today… I will be in the field doing weather live as part of our drive to get window air conditioners for those in need; watch ABC 33/40 News at 4, 5, and 6:00 for details**

Be sure and scroll down for some good research on this heat wave and Alabama climatology from the team at UAH.

HEAT PARADE: Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Anniston have hit 102 degrees at 3:00… right at our forecast levels for today. And, thankfully humidity values remain low, generally in the 20-30 percent range, meaning the heat index is not much of a factor today. The sky is sunny and hazy, and there is nothing on radar.

HOT WEEKEND: No changes in our forecast… you can see the morning Weather Xtreme video for all the details. Highs tomorrow and Sunday along the I-20/59 corridor will be in the 101-104 degree range as the upper high remains very close by, and we don’t expect any cooling showers or thunderstorms.

NEXT WEEK: The heat ridge slowly weakens next week, with highs coming back into the mid 90s by mid-week, and also opening the door for scattered showers and thunderstorms as early as Monday. You will be glad to know the GFS is printing a high of only 91 one week from today.

BEACH WEATHER: Sunny days, fair nights on the Gulf Coast from Panama City west to Gulf Shores through the weekend with highs in the upper 80s. You might see a few scattered showers and storms next week on the coast, but still a decent amount of sunshine each day. Ocean water temperatures are in the mid 80s. And, the tropics are quiet.

Have to run to my live weather location, but see the morning Weather Xtreme video for all the juicy details on weather for the next two weeks.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.

Brian Peters will have the video updates tomorrow and Sunday… my next Weather Xtreme video will be posted bright and early Monday morning. Enjoy the weekend!
