No More Warnings

| August 18, 2012 @ 7:17 am

The thunderstorm complex now over Central Alabama has weakened slightly and has not produced much in the way of severe weather reports, so the National Weather Service is canceling the warning.

The high winds indicated on Doppler Radar never quite made it down to the surface.

Lots of heavy rain and lightning now from Alabaster to Montevallo, West Blocton and Maplesville.

Light to moderate rain continues over much of northeastern Tuscaloosa and western Jefferson County. That will move across much of the Birmingham area down into northern Shelby county over the next hour.

There is some lightning in the Leeds/Moody area, but that cell is weakening.

Back to the west, scattered storms are trying to form over Mississippi. Those could affect Central Alabama later.

But more storms are widespread back over Arkansas. Those could impact West Central Alabama this evening.
