THIS AFTERNOON: Another quiet day in the weather office. The sky is partly to mostly sunny, and temperatures are mostly in the low to mid 80s. Nothing on radar.
TOMORROW AND SATURDAY: No real change. A good supply of sunshine each with with a high in the mid 80s as the low levels remain dry.
SUNDAY/MONDAY: A disturbance over Texas will get closer, and we will introduce the chance of a shower Sunday afternoon. But, it looks like the best chance of rain will come Sunday night into Monday, when a few thunderstorms could be involved. The latest QPF guidance is more aggressive, suggesting rain amounts of 1 to 2 inches for much of Alabama.
A few showers are possible on Tuesday as well as a strong cold front approaches.
NICE COOL DOWN: We are still expecting the coolest air so far this very young meteorological fall season by Wednesday and Thursday of next week. The high will drop into the 70s Wednesday with a fresh north breeze, and there is a decent chance we reach the mid to upper 40s early Thursday morning. See the Weather Xtreme video for details.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: The sky will be mostly clear for the high school games tonight and tomorrow night. Temperatures will be mostly in the mid to upper 70s both nights during the games.
Saturday, Auburn will host Louisiana-Monroe at Jordan-Hare Stadium (11:00 a.m. kickoff). The sky will be mostly sunny with temperatures rising from near 80 at kickoff to around 84 by the final whistle. Alabama will be on the road… they take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville at 2:30; the sky will be cloudy at times, and a passing shower or storm is possible during the game. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 70s. UAB plays South Carolina in Columbia Saturday evening (6:00 kickoff); the sky should be mostly fair with temperatures falling from the low 80s at kickoff into the mid 70s by the fourth quarter.
TROPICS: Tropical Storm Nadine is expected to become a hurricane tonight in the middle of the Atlantic; it will recurve well east of the U.S. mainland.
