A Dry Start To The Weekend
An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.
MOSTLY DRY WEEKEND: Alabama’s weather won’t be changing too much through tomorrow, with mostly sunny warm days and fair pleasant nights. Output statistics from models have been way too warm in recent days, and they still look too warm this weekend. I expect highs in the mid 80s today and tomorrow.
SUNDAY: The GFS has been trending drier, but the NAM still brings in showers late Sunday and Sunday night. Most of the day Sunday should be dry with a mix of sun and clouds, but don’t be surprised if we see showers, especially over West Alabama, late in the day. We stay in the mid 80s.
NEXT WEEK: Monday should bring the best coverage of showers and storms as an upper system now over Texas moves into the state. Rain amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch look likely, and we don’t expect any severe weather. A few showers are still possible Tuesday with a cold front slicing into the state.
The coolest air so far this season blows in here Tuesday night and Wednesday. We won’t get out of the 70s Wednesday, and think we have a great chance of reaching the 40s Thursday morning (MOS still too warm). Fall weather fans will love it.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: The sky will be mostly clear for the high school games tonight. Temperatures will be mostly in the mid to upper 70s during the games.
Tomorrow, Auburn will host Louisiana-Monroe at Jordan-Hare Stadium (11:00 a.m. kickoff). The sky will be mostly sunny with temperatures rising from near 80 at kickoff to around 84 by the final whistle. Alabama will be on the road… they take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville at 2:30; the sky will be cloudy with a good chance of showers, and possibly a thunderstorm, during the game. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 70s. UAB plays South Carolina in Columbia tomorrow evening (6:00 kickoff); the sky should be mostly fair with temperatures falling from the low 80s at kickoff into the mid 70s by the fourth quarter.
