Heavy Showers Over Western Jefferson County

| September 29, 2012 @ 4:49 pm

UPDATE 5:03
John Talbot reports 0.88″ of rain in the Hueytown/Concord area.

ORIGINAL POST
Heavy showers are in a cluster over western Jefferson County at this hour.

They will remain west of Legion Field, which is good news for the UAB game.

But folks down to Bessemer and McCalls and westward over western Jefferson County will pick up brief heavy rain and some lightning as these cells move southeast.

John Talbot reports very heavy rain in the past 15 minutes. He measured 0.55″ in just ten minutes and 0.67″ in 15 minutes. Just heard thunder, which makes sense, since the cells are getting over 30,000 feet.

Some sprinkles have been moving through the Tuscaloosa vicinity including areas around the University of Alabama. It looks like the heavier showers will stay northeast of the stadium area, however.
