Snow On The Way

| January 17, 2013 @ 9:20 am

Snowfall will be increasing from west to east across Alabama this morning and into the afternoon. Already getting reports of heavy snow from Aliceville, Sulligent and Fayette.

Several bands of heavy snow from Interstate 55 across East Mississippi and now getting into West Alabama. Accumulating snow in several of our western counties and a mix of precip as far east as Birmingham. The wintry mix will be short-lived and all precip will turn into snow. Several inches have fallen in areas of East Mississippi and we will be looking for similar totals across Central Alabama.

Travel could be tricky, as snow in some bands is falling faster than it is melting. This could allow for some road to be snow covered for periods of times. As the snow tapers off through out the afternoon, from west to east, the road conditions will begin to improve. There will be some beautiful winter scenes across Alabama today.
