Early Afternoon in Alabama

From the shores of our friend, the Gulf of Mexico, northward to the Banks of the big Tennessee River, moist air covers Alabama somewhat like a wet blanket.

Dew points (by far the best indicator of moisture) were inn the 60s in every county early this afternoon. Temperatures were close to 80 most places except some mid-70s in East Central Alabama where there were some showers.

Speaking of showers, there were some over East Central Alabama but not moving much. The heaviest showers were over SW Alabama mainly over Clarke and Choctaw County and some northward into Sumter County. They were moving toward the ESE.

ELSEWHERE
….Interesting to note that there were 47 reports of tornadoes yesterday. Most were over North Colorado, SE Wyoming and West Kansas. Of course that number will be lower after everything is said and done because there were multiple reports of the same tornadoes. Hardest hit was Winsor, Colo., in Weld County. The town of Winsor is west of Greely and east of Fort Collins.

AND I STILL WONDER WHY?
….Randolph is not in Randolph County, it is in SE Bibb County.
….Cherokee is not in Cherokee County. It is all the way across the state.
….Marion is not in Marion County
….Jackson is not in Jackson County. It is far removed and is in Clarke County
….and, finally, in Texas, Houston is not in Houston County. Houston county is a long way away, in East Central Texas.

Enough of this
