Mid-Afternoon Update and Little Action

| June 21, 2013 @ 3:54 pm

Temperatures were in the upper 80s across Central Alabama just before 4 pm, and little in the way of showers had developed in Central Alabama. It’s interesting to look at radar off to our northeast this afternoon with an area of scattered showers over northern Georgia and eastern Tennessee. This appears to be in response to a small trough with a pool of temperatures at 500 millibars that are just a few degrees cooler than the surrounding areas. And motion of the storms is also interesting as they move slowly from northeast toward the southwest.

There were only two areas of showers of note in Central Alabama at 3:48 pm. One shower was approaching Demopolis and a couple of small showers were just southeast of Camden and northeast of Monroeville. Showers should dissipate quickly as we near sunset.
