Big Storms in Central Alabama

| July 21, 2013 @ 7:22 pm

It certainly remains a very busy evening for weather across Central Alabama.

A strong complex of storms moved through the Birmingham Metro producing flash flooding in numerous locations. That complex of storms continues to move east along Interstate 20. Torrential rain is falling from Leeds through Pell City and into Anniston/Oxford. Rainfall is adding up quickly, use extreme caution if driving around. Flooded roadways could become a major problem the next couple of hours.

Into West Alabama, another complex of strong storms is moving northeast across Fayette, Walker, Lamar and Marion Counties. Along with extremely intense rainfall, tremendous amounts of lightning continue. Storms will continue to persist for at least the next couple of hours in Central Alabama.
