Heavy thunderstorms are massing to the northwest of the Birmingham Metro and moving southeast.

They are intensifying from southeastern Winston County across eastern Walker into Cullman, southwestern Blount and northern Jefferson County.

Lots of lightning and very heavy rain is being reported, but the storms are not severe. The thunder is very loud as well.

To the west, storms are building over West Central Alabama’s Marion, Lamar and Fayette Counties. They are pushing southeast as well.

In the east, moderate showers cover large parts of Calhoun, Cleburne, Talladega, Clay and Randolph Counties.

The showers and storms are ahead of a southward moving cold front that will end the precipitation from the northwest during the morning.
