Storms to the North, Sun to the South
Most locations are seeing mostly sunny skies this afternoon. Where the sun is shining temperatures are making it into the lower 90s. Areas between Montgomery and Birmingham and across much of Central Alabama are seeing these conditions. However, north of Interstate 59, there are more clouds and with those clouds, showers and thunderstorms.
Looking at the radar, we can see that the location of showers and storms corresponds to the the brighter and whiter clouds in the above image. Heavy rain is falling in many areas between Birmingham and Huntsville. Storms are expected to remain below severe limits, but they are producing very heavy rainfall. Isolated flash flooding will remain the greatest threat with any storms that develop today.
