Thunderboomers Central Alabama
At mid-afternoon, a fairly wide band of showers and thunderstorms extended all the way across Central Alabama.
Generally from Sumter and marengo County on the west side of the state eastward across Bibb, Chilton, Coosa and to Tallapoosa, Chambers and South Randolf County on the east side.
Not a solid line of showers and storms by any means. In fact some of those counties have very few.
The storms formed along a slow southward-moving frontal boundry but some places were getting good downpours.
NWS/Birmingham issued a Special Weather Statement for Sumter County (Significant Weather Alert) A storm was NW of York and Moving SE at 18 possibly producing small hail and gusts to 30.
North Alabama, where drier air has moved in was not getting any.
