A Great Looking Afternoon

A mix of sun and clouds this afternoon with an easterly wind. That wind is bringing in drier air and we can see that back looking at the dew point temperature readings decreasing from west to east across the state. Notice the lower dew points farther east, with some in the upper 50s. Very nice weather heading for Alabama.

No rain expected this afternoon as the drier air moves in at the surface and in the mid-levels. The dry air in the mid-levels acts as a capping inversion preventing vertical development of storms. Clouds are thinning out over eastern portions of the state. The clouds over central and western portions of the state will hang around a little longer today, but should begin to thin out later this evening. It is a great afternoon for any outdoor activities you may have planned.
