Heavy Rain Heading Towards Alabama

| September 24, 2013 @ 10:01 am

A mass of very heavy rain is moving east across north-central Mississippi this morning. A flash flood watch has been issued for much of the central Mississippi until tomorrow evening. There are several flash flood warnings in effect across the area this morning.

Heavy rain continues to fall with most locations expected to receive 1-2 inches of rain while some areas could received 3-4 inches and perhaps even more in some isolated areas.

This rain is heading towards Alabama and should begin to impact our western counties around lunchtime and will be impacting much of central Alabama by later this afternoon. No watches or warning issued for out area yet, but that certainly could change as rain is expected to last through the overnight hours. Expect a heavy soaking rain during the next 24 hours.
