Forecast Update at Noon

| October 6, 2013 @ 12:13 pm

The storm Sunday is not going to be quite as stormy as originally thought. The fairly wide band of rain and thunderstorms that moved through Mississippi last night has shrunk considerably this morning and is a mere shadow of itself at the noon hour. Much of the rain has moved into Alabama, but it looks those that do get rain will get less than originally thought – perhaps a half inch or less. The moisture from the Gulf and the now defunct Karen simply has not been able to mix into the area, so rainfall will be less than what I was expecting to see.

Based on current radar trends, it would seem that the rain may also end sooner than expected with western sections drying out by mid afternoon and the central sections around early to mid afternoon. Eastern Alabama will see some showers until later this evening.

The front is expected to move into Central Alabama after dark and by Monday sunrise dew points should be approaching the 40s, so Monday is still shaping up to be a very nice day with highs only in the mid 70s with lots of sun.
