Dry Through The Weekend

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

QUIET OCTOBER WEATHER: This is our driest month of the year, so it is not unusual forecasting long periods of dry weather this time of the year. We are forecasting mostly sunny pleasant days, and clear cool nights through Friday with a gradual day to day warming trend. We rise into the mid to upper 70s today; the high tomorrow will be around 80, with low 80s on Friday. Early morning lows will stay mostly in the cool 50s.

OUR WEEKEND: Same story; dry air means no rain. Lots of sun Saturday and Sunday with a high in the low 80s. A weak front northwest of Alabama Sunday will stall out around Memphis, and showers should keep to the west.

NEXT WEEK: The 12Z GFS still shows dry weather for Alabama Monday and Tuesday, but we will have our next chance of showers on Wednesday (October 16) with a cold front, followed by colder and drier air later in the week. For now it doesn’t look like a big rain event. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Perfect weather through Sunday with sunny warm days and fair cool nights from Panama City to Gulf Shores. Highs in the low 80s; lows in the 60s. Should be hard to find a decent cloud in the sky this weekend during the National Shrimp Festival at Gulf Shores. Sea water temperatures are in the 78-81 degree range this afternoon.

TROPICS: A disturbance in the East Atlantic has some potential to become a tropical storm late in the week, but it will recurve into the open Atlantic, and is no threat to any land mass.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.

I enjoyed being at Chelsea Park Elementary School this morning, and also being with the senior adults (the 39ers) at First Baptist Church of Hamilton during the lunch hour. Look for the next Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow…
