CHILL IN THE AIR: How about these temperatures just before daybreak across the great state of Alabama….

Black Creek (just northeast of Gadsden) 45
Concord 46
Meridianville 46
Cullman 48
Fayette 48
Russellville 48
Haleyville 49
Bessemer 50
Birmingham 50

Easily our coolest temperatures so far this fall. The weather today will feature ample sunshine with a high in the mid 70s… doesn’t get much better.

REST OF THE WEEK: No real change for Alabama. Sunny pleasant days, clear cool nights. Our high will be around 80 by the end of the week as we see a slow day to day warming trend; morning lows will be in the 50s.

OUR WEEKEND: No real change. Mostly sunny warm days, clear cool nights Saturday and Sunday as dry air stays in place. Highs will be in the low 80s, with lows in the 50s. No rain issues this weekend for high school or college football games.

NEXT WEEK: Still rain-free early in the week; the deeper moisture remains west of the state as the calm, dry October weather pattern continues. Makes for a pretty simple forecast.

TROPICS: A disturbance in the East Atlantic has some potential to become Tropical Storm Lorenzo in coming days, but it will be gaining latitude, and if anything forms there most likely it will recurve and stay far from land.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Sunny days, fair nights through the weekend from Panama City over to Gulf Shores. Perfect weather for the annual National Shrimp Festival this weekend in Gulf Shores. Highs in the low 80s, lows in the 60s. The sea water temperature at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab has cooled to 71 degrees this morning.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. Scroll down for the show notes for this week’s new episode we recorded last night.
