Significant Weather Alert – Central Alabama

Birmingham Weather has issued a SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ALERT FOR AUTAUGA, CHILTON, DALLAS, LOWNDES AND PERRY COUNTIES UNTIL 830 PM CDT.

Storms extend from south of the Centreville/Brent area to north of Selma. They are not as strong as earlier, but are still packing a punch.

A few minutes ago, the NWS commented that a few wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph possible with activity near Selma. They also said that overall the storms look fairly weak but outflow continues to propogate out just ahead of the rain.

Some late wind damage reports at 8 o’clock…
…Linden [Marengo Co, AL] law enforcement reports TSTM WND DMG at 06:43 PM CDT — a few trees were blown down along highway 43. winds were estimated between 40 and 50 mph.
…Safford [Dallas Co, AL] law enforcement reports TSTM WND DMG at 07:10 PM CDT — a few trees were blown down in far western Dallas county. winds were estimated between 40 and 50 mph.

Storms also continue over the Tennessee Valey tonight, with the main ones just south of Huntsville.
