JUst a quick reminder that daylight savings time ended at 2 am this morning, so be sure to set your clocks back one hour so you will be on time for things today. I stayed up late last night cheering the Florida State Seminoles to victory over the Miami Hurricanes. It’s looking more and more like a National Championship game could be played between Alabama’s Crimson Tide and the Seminoles. But onto the weather!!

Cool crisp morning this morning. Gadsden Skywatcher reported 37 degrees this morning and I’ve had a low of 38 this morning. And the Skywatcher at Black Creek has come in with 31 degrees for a low with some frost. Cold air advection is still underway so I expect to see our highs today a tad cooler than yesterday with highs in the lower 60s.

It will be another cool night tonight, but after tonight look for a nice warm up as highs climb to the lower 70s by Wednesday. The dry weather continues until Wednesday when another trough comes out of the Rockies and brings a cold front through the area. Models are in good agreement as I noted yesterday on the overall timing and strength of this next system. Rain chances come primarily late Wednesday evening and into Thursday. By late Thursday, the weather will be drying out. A persistent easterly flow with only a short southerly fetch ahead of the front should limit the moisture to a large degree, so at this time I do not expect to see a severe weather threat with rainfall amounts being held to around a half inch for most locations.

The trough ventures by quickly and cold air floods the region once again bringing on another great weekend for much of the eastern two-thirds of the country.

The Hurricane Center is watching an area of clouds in the vicinity of Hispaniola that will bring some rain to that area, but there is only a low chance for any tropical storm formation.

Looking into Week 2, the GFS projects another trough for the eastern half of the country around the 15th of November with another potent system at the end of the long range forecast period around the 18th/19th.
