Temperatures

The day ahead will feature sunshine in full supply with a high between 58 and 61 degrees for most communities.

OUR WEEKEND: After another cold night tonight with a low in the upper 30s early tomorrow, the weekend will feature partly sunny days and fair nights. We reach the mid 60s tomorrow, and upper 60s Sunday.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: For the first round of the high school football playoffs tonight, the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from the low 50s at kickoff into the 40s by halftime. Great night for football, just bring a warm jacket.

Alabama hosts LSU tomorrow night in Tuscaloosa (7:00p CT kickoff); the sky will be clear with a kickoff temperature near 55 degrees, falling into the 40s during the second half. Auburn travels to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers (11:00 a.m. CT kickoff)… the sky will be mostly sunny with temperatures rising from 55 at kickoff to near 60 degrees by the final whistle.

UAB is on the road; they play at Marshall tomorrow in Huntingdon, West Virginia; the sky will be sunny with 52 degrees at kickoff, and 57 degrees by the end of the game. Doesn’t get much better for a November Saturday.

NEXT WEEK: Models are still advertising the coldest air so far this season by mid-week. We might see a sprinkle or two Tuesday night or Wednesday, but it will be mostly rain-free as the cold shot blows in here. It is doubtful we get out of the 40s on Wednesday, and by Thursday morning just about everybody over North/Central Alabama will experience a low down in the 20s. Checked the record low for November 13… it is 22 degrees set in 1911. Don’t think it will be quite that cold at the Birmingham Airport, where the records are kept, but some of the colder valleys could very well be that cold.

See the Weather Xtreme video for more details.
