I sure don’t write that title often (COOL July Morning)….

As I write this, some observations around Alabama include:

Scrougeout (Northeast Etowah County) 50
Fort Payne 52
Haleyville 53
Gadsden 54
Crossville 54
Decatur 55
Vinemont 57

Don’t you wish every summer morning would feel this way? A clear touch of fall in the air.

THE DAYS AHEAD: No rain through tomorrow with sunny warm days and another very pleasant night tonight. I guess you might mention some slight risk of a shower Thursday afternoon, but most communities will remain dry.

HOLIDAY WEEKEND: Latest model hints that most places will remain dry on the Fourth of July on Friday. I have mentioned widely scattered afternoon showers and storms thanks to a general increase in moisture, but there won’t be much forcing other than the daytime heating process, and I really get the idea most BBQ events and fireworks shows won’t be bothered by rain this year.

I do expect an increase in scattered showers and storms on Saturday and Sunday as a surface front stalls out just north of here over Tennessee, and deeper moisture moves in from the south.

HOLIDAY AT THE BEACH: Yesterday was not exactly a “chamber of commerce” day along the Gulf coast; our SKYCAM at Gulf Shores measured 0.96″ of rain, and for a while the southern part of Baldwin County was under a tornado warning (no damage was reported as a result of that storm). Much drier air moves into the region today, and we expect a good supply of sunshine from Panama City westward to Gulf Shores, with little if any chance of rain. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s. Then, scattered showers and storms will return Thursday through the weekend, but there will be some good intervals of sunshine away from the showers. The sea water temperature last night at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab was 83 degrees.

VOODOO LAND: Still no sign of any excessive heat here through mid-July. Looks like fairly routine summer weather into mid-month with an almost daily disk of scattered, mainly afternoon showers and storms with afternoon highs not far from 90 degrees.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left. We have an all new episode available; Tim Troutman of the NWS in Huntsville is our guest this week; Brian will post the show notes a little later this morning.

TWITTER: Don’t forget, you can follow our news and weather updates from ABC 33/40 on Twitter here. And, my personal Twitter feed is here if you want to keep up with my adventures in life. Twitter is a short messaging service you can receive via the web, cell phone, or IM.

Look for the next Weather Xtreme video here by 3:30 this afternoon… enjoy the day!
