A Wet Friday Afternoon

| November 15, 2013 @ 11:32 am

A quick look at the central Alabama radar shows quite a bit of rain has moved into western portions of the state. The rain currently is west of Interstate 65 but will be spreading east during the afternoon hours. Light to moderate rain is falling over West Alabama and is affecting Tuscaloosa, Fayette, Marion, Vernon, Carrollton, Livingston, and Eutaw. The rain has started to impact the Birmingham metro as well. We are even seeing some more intense rainfall along Interstate 20/59 in Sumter County. Most areas will receive one quarter to one half inch of rain today.

Expanding our view out across the Southeast, a large rain shield is moving into Alabama from Mississippi. Most areas across the state will see rain today, and the rain should last for several hours. Today’s rain is in response to an upper-level short wave working across the region. The short wave will only impact our weather today and once it moves out, the rain will be out of here for our Saturday. There could be a few rumbles of thunder with some of the more intense areas of rain, but no severe weather is expected today across the state.
