THANKFUL: As we expected, there were no severe weather issues in Alabama late last night or early this morning, just a band of weakening showers with no thunder. Sunday was a tragic day, however, for our friends up north with multiple tornadoes over states like Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky where the death toll is six. Scroll down for a look at the event as it unfolded yesterday here on our blog.

THE DAY AHEAD: The band of showers is now over Southeast Alabama, and drier air is moving into the state. Temperatures are mostly in the 50s at daybreak, and we expect a sunny sky today with a high in the upper 60s… it will be a bright, very pleasant day.

COOLER TOMORROW: The high will drop about ten degrees tomorrow as cooler air arrives; the high will be around 60 degrees in most places with sunshine through scattered clouds. Then, we drop into the 30s early Wednesday morning with a clear sky and light wind.

Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high in the low to mid 60s.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: Moist air begins to return, and rain breaks out during the day Thursday in places like Memphis, TN and Jackson, MS. A shower could creep into West Alabama late in the day Thursday, but most places around here will stay dry. On Friday, showers are possible, especially over West and North Alabama as moisture levels continue to rise. Highs on Thursday and Friday will be in the 60s.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: A cold front will pass through during the day Saturday, and a band of showers is likely along the front. The latest guidance hints the best chance of rain could come during the morning hours over the northern half of the state, but we will be able to much more specific in coming days. There could be a touch of thunder in spots, but no severe weather issues, and rain should be generally 1/2 inch or less. The sky will be cloudy with temperatures holding in the 50s much of the day.

Then, on Sunday, much colder air blows in here. The sky becomes mostly sunny, but I doubt if we get out of the 40s with a chilly north wind.

THANKSGIVING WEEK: Monday morning will be cold with a low down in the 20s. We stay dry Monday and Tuesday with a slow warming trend; the 06Z GFS hints that showers are possible here by Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day, but that is certainly not carved in stone this far in advance. See the Weather Xtreme video for the details, maps, and graphics.
