Clearing Sky, Much Colder

| November 23, 2013 @ 6:31 pm

Colder air will continue to filter into Alabama from the north overnight. As the sky clears, the warmer air that has been trapped will escape and that will allow for temperatures to fall rapidly during the night time hours. Across the state this evening, we are seeing temps range from the upper 30s in the Tennessee Valley to upper 50s in the Wiregrass Region of the state, and these temps will only continue to drop. There are still a few very light showers across southwestern portions of the state, but the northern two-thirds of the state remain dry.

For tomorrow, after a very cold start to the day, we will not warm up much across central Alabama. We will see abundant sunshine tomorrow, but afternoon highs will struggle to reach the 40s. Winds will continue to blow out of the north and it will make for a very brisk day across the state. The graphic below shows forecast lows for 6 AM tomorrow and appears that all of north-central Alabama will see morning lows in the 25-30 degree range. Areas along and north of Interstate 20 will have lows below 30, while areas to the south are likely to temperatures at or just above the 30 degree mark.
