Front Into Alabama

| January 5, 2014 @ 6:05 pm

The front we have been waiting on is now moving into the state. Temperatures are falling on this side of the state line and freezing temps are not that far away.

The edge of the cold air is approaching Tuscaloosa, Berry, Jasper, Double Springs, and Moulton.

The 30s are into the state now, and those 50s across Central Alabama will soon be out of here and we will be on our way to the teens for morning lows. There is light to moderate rain falling along the front, and as the front passes there will be a brief switchover to frozen precip.

Along with the colder temps, the winds are going to increase and will be sustained at 15-25 mph overnight, with gust over 30 mph. That will send our winds chills well below zero in the morning.

With the wet roads and freezing temps, there will likely be some slick spots and areas of black ice on the roadways. Use extreme caution if you have to be out on the roads overnight.
