Some loud thunderstorms are prancing eastward across Central Alabama this morning. They extend from the Jacksonville and Weaver areas to Pell City to Calera and on to Marion at 5:15.

Very heavy rain is along the leading edge of this activity, along with the lightning. There were some reports of damage caused by lightning and some hail of pea size or a little larger in Marion and Lamar Counties between 1 and 2 a.m.

About a 75 mile wide band of rain trails behind the advancing storms.

Everything is moving east at 35-40 mph.

Rain should end in the Birmingham area between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m.
