Severe Clear, but Chilly

| January 18, 2014 @ 11:49 am

Brilliant blue skies with hardly a cloud to be found are widespread across the Southeast this weekend. There are a few clouds across the Tennessee Valley of Alabama, but the rest of the state is severe clear. High pressure to our southwest and very dry air over the region will keep out skies mostly sunny today and tomorrow. No chance of rain this weekend across Alabama.

We started off cold this morning with teens and twenties across much of Central Alabama. We have since warmed-up under the sunny skies into to upper 30s and lower 40s across our part of the state. For the rest of today, we should see those temps continue to climb and most locations will warm about another ten degrees for afternoon highs today.

We are seeing southwesterly flow at the surface and this will allow the air over Alabama to moderate. By tonight, that moderating will allow our overnight lows to remain warmer than last night. Upper 20s and lower 30s are expected across Central Alabama to start your Sunday.
