Travel to the South Deteriorating

As expected today, travel across the south half of Alabama would be impacted from the winter weather event.

Reports via social media and from the NWS.

Drivers reporting freezing rain between Clanton and Montgomery.

Heavy sleet reported along U.S. 80, where drivers are having to stop and scrape their windshields because of ice build-up.

Freezing rain reported between Enterprise and Montgomery.

Numerous reports from the Jackson, MS Weather Office of ice building up on roadways, with bridges in Hattiesburg starting to ice over.

Road and bridge icing being reported in bridges around Montgomery, Prattville, Wetumpka and Demopolis.

In and around Haleyville in Northwest Alabama, there is a dusting of snow, with snow on the roadways, but no travel issues.
