Winter Weather Advisory Extended North

| January 28, 2014 @ 9:08 am

Light snow continues to fall across much of North-Central Alabama this morning. With it being so cold, what snow is falling is sticking to the ground and we are seeing pictures via social media of a light dusting from Haleyville, Arab, and Guin.

Snow is falling in Northport, Jasper, Cullman, and now in and around the Birmingham area. Reports of flurries downtown and we will continue to see snow reports increase throughout the morning.

The main story continues to be the travel issues to the south. Numerous reports of bridges freezing over along Interstate 65 and 85.

The NWS has extended the Winter Weather Advisory north to now include the Birmingham Metro, as well as Tuscaloosa, Jasper, Gadsden. Areas along Interstate 20/59 will see some accumulating snow, but the worst of the weather will remain along and south of a line from near Livingston, Brent, Clanton, Sylcagaua, and Heflin.
