Mild Weekend; Colder Next Week

| February 21, 2014 @ 3:11 pm

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today**

BLUE SKY: What a delightful day across Alabama… sunshine in full supply with temperatures right around 60 degrees at mid-afternoon. Tonight will be clear, and temperatures will fall into the mid 30s by daybreak tomorrow.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Another fantastic day tomorrow, the sky will be partly to mostly sunny with a high in the mid 60s. Sunday will be even warmer with a high around 70 degrees, but clouds will increase ahead of an impulse along the Gulf Coast. The bulk of the rain with this feature will come over the southern half of the state, but a few isolated showers are possible as far north as I-20. The 12Z model set has come in drier for Sunday for North-Central Alabama, showing very few showers.

NEXT WEEK: The high will be in the 60s Monday and Tuesday; looks like we will need to mention some risk of showers by Tuesday afternoon or Tuesday night ahead of a cold front. Then, much colder air returns beginning Wednesday. Highs will drop into the 40-45 degree range Wednesday and Thursday, and it sure looks like we have a good chance of visiting the teens early Thursday and Friday morning.

No sign of any “wintry precipitation” in the colder air.

I had great visits today with the 6th graders at Northside Middle School in Tuscaloosa County, and first graders at Calera Elementary in Shelby County. Be looking for them on the Pepsi KIDCAM today at 5:00 and 6:00 on ABC 33/40 News! My next Weather Xtreme video will be posted bright and early Monday morning by 7:00… Brian Peters will have the video updates tomorrow and Sunday. Enjoy the weekend!
