Rainfall Total Note

| April 28, 2014 @ 9:11 am

Just a quick note about the total rainfall so far in Central Alabama. With the 45 hundredths of an inch of rainfall observed at the Birmingham Shuttlesworth Airport yesterday, the total rainfall for April now stands at 7.22″. Some places received much more than that including a recorded 1.40″ at Barber Motorsports Park and 0.99″ in Helena.

If we had no more rain this month, this would make April, 2014, the 21st wettest month on record since 1900. But our forecast calls for rain, and it could be heavy, so we are under a flash flood watch that goes into effect at 4:00 pm today and continues until Wednesday morning. It will take about an inch and a half of rain to move April, 2014, into the top ten wettest Aprils on record. And that appears quite possible.
