WARM MAY DAY: Temperatures are generally in the upper 80s this afternoon across Alabama with hardly a cloud in the sky. Tonight will be clear; most communities will see a low in the upper 50s early tomorrow.

Our weather will stay warm and dry through Thursday with sunny days and fair nights; highs will stay in the mid to upper 80s, with lows in the upper 50s and low 60s.

TO THE WEST: Parts of the nation’s mid-section are outlooked for severe weather Wednesday and Thursday by the Storm Prediction Center, but the dynamic support will lift far north of Alabama and we do not expect any severe weather issues here late this week, thankfully.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: Moisture levels rise Friday as the upper ridge breaks down a bit, and a few scattered showers and storms are possible Friday afternoon into Friday night.

The moist air will linger over the state through the weekend, meaning some risk of showers and storms both Saturday and Sunday. The rain won’t be continuous, and we don’t expect any severe weather, but if you have something planned outside be aware occasional showers, and possibly a thunderstorm are a good possibility. Highs over the weekend will be at or just over 80 degrees, and the sky will be mostly cloudy both days.

Not much change early next week… moist air means some risk of showers and storms at least through Monday and Tuesday. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.

The good news is that we don’t see any significant severe weather risk here for the next 15 days.

AT THE BEACH: Sunny days, fair nights on the coast from Panama City over to Gulf Shores through Thursday. Highs on the immediate coast will be in the 70s, with 80s just a few miles inland. Scattered showers are possible Friday through Sunday on the coast with only a limited amount of sun each day, but it won’t be a “wash-out”.

WEATHER RADIO PROGRAMMING: We will be at Academy Sports in Gadsden Wednesday from 3:30 until 6:30 p.m… if you need some help with your weather radio, come see us.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. We will produce this week’s show tonight at 8:30 CT… you can watch it on “James Spann 24/7” on cable systems around the state, or see it on the web here.
