Dry, Warmer Weather This Week

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

FOGGY START: A dense fog advisory is up for about the northern half of Alabama this morning; once that fog burns off we expect a partly sunny sky with a high in the low 80s. No rain as the air is becoming drier and more stable.

HEATING UP: Looks like dry weather is the story for our state for the rest of the week with a warming trend. Sunny days, fair nights thanks to an upper high building across the Deep South. We reach the mid 80s tomorrow, and upper 80s Wednesday. We will stay in the 87 to 90 degree range Thursday and Friday as the weather will feel more and more like summer.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: We will watch for the potential for a back-door type front Saturday, which might knock temperatures down a few degrees over Northeast Alabama, but I don’t see much change for the long, holiday weekend. For most places, highs will remain between 87 and 90, and the weather stays dry with a good supply of sunshine Saturday through Monday.

AT THE BEACH: Looks fantastic. Sunny days, fair nights all the way through the Memorial Day weekend from Panama City over to Gulf Shores. Highs on the immediate coast will be near 80, with upper 80s inland. The sea water temperature this morning at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is 74 degrees.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. We will produce this week’s show at 8:30 tonight; you can watch it on “James Spann 24/7” on cable systems around the state, or on the web here.
