Radar shows rain falling early this morning from near Demopolis down U.S. 43 to Mobile, and in places south of Montgomery. The overall pattern remains unchanged today; there is an upper low to the west, and with very moist air in place we will forecast scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms through tomorrow. The sky will be generally cloudy, although the sun could peek out at times, and highs hold in the 80s.

OUR WEEKEND: The upper feature west of the state will dampen and lift out, but the moist air sticks around (of course, we usually stay in moist air all summer long here in Alabama). We will forecast a mix of sun and clouds Saturday and Sunday, with scattered, mostly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Chance of any one spot getting wet both days will be about one in three, and highs will be in the upper 80s.

No real change in this classic summer pattern through much of next week. It is the time of the year when the weather doesn’t change much on a day to day basis.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Showers and storms are likely on the coast from Panama City over to Gulf Shores through tomorrow, and dangerous rip tides are likely as well.

Showers on the coast will thin out over the weekend and early next week, with increasing amounts of sunshine. Highs on the coast will be in the 80s. The sea water temperature early this morning at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is 77 degrees.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes.
