Wet and Stormy Morning Ahead

| June 9, 2014 @ 5:39 am

We are watching quite a bit of convection developing across the Southeast this morning and that does include much of North-Central Alabama. Many locations are starting the day off with heavy rain, loud thunder, frequent lightning, gusty winds, and perhaps even some small hail. Thankfully, at this time, none of this activity is severe. ‘

We will continue to see showers and storms move east from Mississippi, as well as have storms develop over Alabama. Currently, the majority of the activity is along and north of Interstate 20. Though no warnings are currently in effect, that could change as the atmosphere remains rather unstable across the region.

We are going to have to watch for the threat of flash flooding as well. Numerous counties across northern Mississippi are under flash flood warnings, and with such heavy rain falling, we could see some issues in Central Alabama throughout the morning. Give yourself some extra this morning and use caution as you head out the door.
