Strong, Non-Severe Storms Affecting Alabama
Over the last few hours, we have seen more showers and storms move into the state. We have a cluster of storms that’s overall movement is towards the east, while individual cells are moving towards the northeast. At this time, none of this activity is severe.
The areas being impacted by these storms are seeing a lot of lightning, heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and small hail. Parts of Lamar, Marion, Winston, Tuscaloosa, and Fayette counties are seeing the more intense activity currently. This activity will continue to move east and will be affecting a large part of North-Central Alabama during the morning hours. With such an unstable atmosphere across the state, we could certainly see some rather strong storms, and some could reach severe limits. At this time, there are no formal severe weather watches or warnings for Alabama, or across portions of northern Mississippi.
We will be seeing additional storms develop as an upper-level feature enhances some dynamic support across the state.
