| June 9, 2014 @ 3:25 pm

That line of thunderstorms across eastern Arkansas and eastern Louisiana is only about 4-5 hours west of the Alabama/Mississippi border now. If these storms hold together, they will pack quite a punch and could produce severe weather.

The intense line of of storms in eastern Louisiana will reach western Alabama during the early evening (say 7-8 p.m.) and reach I-65 by 9-11 p.m., pushing into eastern Alabama later.

There is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect for much of Central Mississippi and a new tornado watch for extreme northern Mississippi. The tornado threat is limited to northern Mississippi and western Tennessee. For Alabama, damaging winds and hail will be the threats.
