Christmas was a gorgeous day for Central Alabama, and while today will be mostly sunny, we will see the sunshine filtered through high cirrus clouds as a new weather system begins to take shape to our west and northwest. Highs should climb well into the 50s today with most locations reaching the upper 50s. Some spots might edge into the 60s.

Clouds increase and thicken overnight with rain moving into Central Alabama from the southwest on Saturday. I think we start the day our dry, but rain should move into and spread across Central Alabama by late morning or early afternoon. Once the rain arrives I expect it to stay through Sunday but coming to an end by early Monday. Rainfall amounts across Central Alabama should be in the 2 to 3 inch range so rainfall could be heavy at times.

The rain should end from the west on Monday morning. Temperatures will gradually lower as the colder air slowly filters into the Southeast US. By News Years Day we will probably see a high only reaching the upper 40s.

Another weather system promises a wet start to 2015 with rain likely by January 2nd. This system holds some potential for producing a wintery weather mix for some of the Southeastern US, so we will be giving future model runs plenty of attention.

The weather pattern remains active as we look out into voodoo country. The rain continues into the 3rd of January as a strong short wave moves across the Lower Mississippi River Valley. We dry out for several days before we see another chance for rain around the 10th.

Look for the next Weather Xtreme Video here by 8:00 tomorrow morning. Enjoy the day and Godspeed!
