COLD WINTER MORNING: Here are some of the colder temperatures across Alabama just before daybreak…

Black Creek (just northeast of Gadsden) 17
Valley Head 18
Gadsden 19
Cullman 19
Fort Payne 19
Russellville 19
Sycamore 23
Fayette 25
Birmingham 26
Anniston 26

Today will feature sunshine in full supply, and warmer trend begins this afternoon with a high around 50 degrees. Then, tomorrow, we warm into the mid 50s with a mix of sun and clouds.

TOMORROW NIGHT/THURSDAY: A wave in the southern branch of the jet stream will spin up a surface low in the Gulf of Mexico, but it looks like the rain shield with that feature will stay over the southern half of Alabama. And, a wave in the northern branch could bring a snow flake or two to far North Alabama late tomorrow night or early Thursday morning, but with little moisture it looks like another “no impact” situation. Then, the sky will clear Thursday afternoon; it will be colder with a high in the mid 40s.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: Friday and Saturday will feature a sunny sky with a warming trend. We reach the upper 50s Friday afternoon, and low 60s Saturday. An Alberta Clipper will pass northeast of Alabama Sunday; we will just mention a slight risk of a shower Sunday afternoon with very limited moisture and dynamic support. The GFS is printing a high of 63 for Birmingham Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: No sign of any really cold air; highs will be in the low 60s at least for the first half of the week with little chance of any precipitation through Friday. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.
