THE DAY AHEAD: An upper low is over far Southeast Missouri this morning, and that feature will aid in the development of showers and thunderstorms across Alabama again today. They will be most numerous this afternoon and early tonight, and SPC has most of the state in a “marginal” risk of severe weather.

Like yesterday, heavier storms this afternoon will be capable of producing gusty winds, very frequent lightning, and heavy rain. The high today will be in the low 80s in most communities.

MID-WEEK: As the upper low moves slowly eastward, the higher chance of afternoon showers and storms will be over East Alabama tomorrow through Thursday. The chance of rain for West Alabama is not zero on these days, but showers there will be few and far between. Temperatures will creep up into the mid 80s with increasing amounts of sunshine.

FRIDAY/SATURDAY: These two days look relatively dry for our state. Again, a shower is not out of the question, but the position of the upper low will keep most of the showers and thunderstorms to the east, over Georgia and the Carolinas. The sky will be partly to mostly sunny with a high in the upper 80s; it will feel like summer.

SUNDAY/MONDAY: Moisture levels will rise again, and we will see an increase in the number of scattered showers and thunderstorms, most active during the afternoon and evening hours. Highs will be in the mid 80s. And, similar weather continues into the middle of next week.

AT THE BEACH: Expect routine June weather along the coast from Panama City to Gulf Shores this week and over the upcoming weekend; about 7 to 9 hours of sunshine each day with widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the low 80s on the immediate coast, with mid to upper 80s inland. The sea water temperature this morning at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is 80 degrees.
