RADAR CHECK: A large mass of rain covers Southeast Alabama just before daybreak; the rain there will end later this morning. The sky becomes partly to mostly sunny, and today’s high will be close to 80 degrees.
RADAR CHECK: We have a few lingering showers over parts of North and East Alabama; those will be out of the state soon. The sky is clearing over the western counties, and the clearing will work its way eastward tonight as dry air arrives.
Colder air is blowing into Alabama today. The sky is clearing and we have a brisk north wind blowing in those colder temperatures as highs today are holding in the 50s for most locations. The sky will clear tonight and the winds will relax and temperatures will take a tumble.
CLEARING: The clearing process continues across Alabama this afternoon. The sky is partly to mostly sunny across much of the state, with lingering clouds over the eastern counties. The sky becomes mostly fair tonight with a low in the 48-54 degree range.
The rain and storms are out of here and we are seeing the sky clear and overall it is a fantastic Friday of weather across Alabama. Temperatures are in the 60s this afternoon, and we do have a breezy northerly wind, but overall it is gorgeous.
RADAR CHECK: A band of showers is moving through parts of East and Southeast Alabama early this morning; that rain will push out of the state soon, and we expect a clearing sky today with a high in the 60s. The dry air stays in place over the weekend.
IMPROVING WEATHER: Clouds linger across Alabama this morning along with some scattered light rain. We expect a clearing sky this afternoon as the upper low near the Gulf Coast moves away, and dry air returns. Expect a high today in the 56-64 degree range across the state.
CLEARING: The sky is still cloudy over much of Alabama this morning, but the morning clouds will give way to afternoon sunshine as drier air continues to work into the state. Expect a high toady in the 50s, very close to seasonal averages for late Januar
CLEARING: The sky has cleared over much of West and South Alabama this afternoon, and the stubborn clouds over the northern and eastern counties should move out this evening. Tonight will be mostly fair and cold with a low in the 30s.
SEVERE WEATHER THREAT IS OVER: The line of severe storms that produced widespread tree and power line damage over the northern half of Alabama this morning has moved into Georgia, and the lingering line of showers over the eastern counties will be out of the state soon. Most communities are enjoying a sunny, windy afternoon with temperatures in the 70s. Tonight will be clear with a low in the 40s.
RADAR CHECK: Rain lingers across parts of Southeast Alabama early this morning, but it will be ending soon and all of the state will enjoy a mostly sunny day. We note temperatures have dropped below freezing over some of the northern counties, and some patchy “black ice” is possible there where water is still standing. Look for highs in the 40s across North Alabama today, with 50s to the south.
RADAR CHECK: Just before sunrise showers continue over parts of East and South Alabama… this rain will move out of the state later this morning, and as dry air moves in the sky becomes sunny. Temperatures will hold in the 60s most of the day; the average high for Birmingham on January 19 is 54.
RADAR CHECK: A large mass of rain and thunderstorms continues early this morning over East and South Alabama… a tornado watch is in effect for a few counties near the Georgia and Florida state lines. But, the rain will be moving out of the state soon, and we expect a clearing sky today with a high in the 67-71 degree range
RADAR CHECK: A band of storms continues to push through South Alabama early this morning; a tornado warning was in effect for parts of northern Baldwin County just before sunrise. SPC maintains a “slight risk” (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms for the southeast corner of Alabama this morning, including places like Dothan, Ozark, Geneva, and Abbeville.
