Midday Nowcast: Clearing Sky Today; Wonderful Weekend Weather
The rain and storms are out of here and we are seeing the sky clear and overall it is a fantastic Friday of weather across Alabama. Temperatures are in the 60s this afternoon, and we do have a breezy northerly wind, but overall it is gorgeous. Tonight, will be clear and chilly with lows in the low 40s for most of North Central Alabama.
WONDERFUL WEEKEND WEATHER: This will be the nicest weekend of weather so far in 2024 for Alabama; no bitterly cold air and/or no rain and storms. Expect mostly sunny, pleasant days and fair nights both tomorrow and Sunday. Highs tomorrow will be closer to 60°, but temperatures will surge into the upper 60s and low 70s Sunday as the warming trend begins.
NEXT WEEK: The week starts off dry with splendid spring-like temperatures; highs will be in the mid and upper 70s. For the middle of the week, a cold front will bring rain and storms back to Alabama. The models continue to back off on the potential threat of severe weather. However, the SPC is maintaining a risk of severe storms for parts of Alabama in their “Day 6” outlook for Wednesday, but at this point the threat continues to decrease.
This could change in the coming days, and we will continue to watch trends through the weekend. Enjoy the great weekend of weather ahead, and we will worry about next week’s system, next week.
As the front drops into the state, it looks like the front becomes stationary which could prolong higher rain chances into Thursday and Friday. Cooler air creeps into the northern 2/3 of Alabama on these days, with highs in the upper 50s Thursday and Friday.
