RADAR CHECK: A large mass of rain and thunderstorms continues early this morning over East and South Alabama… a tornado watch is in effect for a few counties near the Georgia and Florida state lines. But, the rain will be moving out of the state soon, and we expect a clearing sky today with a high in the 67-71 degree range
RADAR CHECK: A band of storms continues to push through South Alabama early this morning; a tornado warning was in effect for parts of northern Baldwin County just before sunrise. SPC maintains a “slight risk” (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms for the southeast corner of Alabama this morning, including places like Dothan, Ozark, Geneva, and Abbeville.
OVERCAST, COOL NOVEMBER DAY: While most of the rain has moved out of the state, clouds linger this afternoon with temperatures generally in the 50s. The exception is the southeast corner of the state, where Dothan has soared into the mid 70s. Look for gradual clearing tonight; temperatures drop into the low to mid 30s early tomorrow morning.
FOGGY START: A dense fog advisory is in effect for Central Alabama early this morning; visibility is very restricted in many places. Morning clouds and fog will give way to some sun this afternoon with temperatures rising into the low 70s. We will mention the chance of a few small, spotty showers this afternoon over the northern third of the state as an upper trough swings through, but odds of any one spot getting wet are generally under 20 percent.
RADAR CHECK: The band of strong storms is pushing through far South Alabama early this morning; just before daybreak most of the rain is south of a line from Roanoke to Linden. Rain will end across the southern counties of the state by mid-morning… elsewhere the sky will be mostly sunny day as dry air returns.
RADAR CHECK: Some patchy light rain persists across parts of Northeast and Central Alabama this afternoon ahead of a very slow moving surface front; the sky has cleared northwest of Birmingham where dry air has taken over. Temperatures are only in the 70s in most places over the northern half of the state; clouds will move out tonight, and tomorrow promises to be a very nice day with ample sunshine and a high in the mid 80s.
RADAR CHECK: Rain has moved out of Alabama early this morning, but clouds linger across much of the state at daybreak. We are forecasting a clearing sky today with sunshine returning this afternoon… the high will be in the 67-71 degree range for most places. The average high for Birmingham on April 18 is 76.
RADAR CHECK: A weakening band of showers is pushing through Southeast Alabama early this morning, and a few stray showers are over the northern and central counties. All of this will be ending soon, and we expect a clearing sky today with sunshine in full force this afternoon. The high today will be in the 69-74 degree range for most communities.
CALMER DAY: The heavier storms have moved out of the southeast corner of Alabama early this morning, and today will be a much calmer day for Alabama with a clearing sky along with highs in the mid 60s. Tonight will be clear and pretty cold for the end of March… temperatures will drop into the 35-40 degree range early tomorrow morning.
RADAR CHECK: Rain continues early this morning across parts of East and Southeast Alabama… that rain will be over by mid-morning. The sky should begin to clear this afternoon as drier air works into the state; temperatures will hold in the 60s all day. Tonight will be mostly fair and very cool with a low around 40 degrees.
RADAR CHECK: The large mass of rain and storms that brought flooding, strong winds, and some hail to Alabama this morning is pretty much out of the state this afternoon; storms linger over the far southeast counties. The sky is clearing over West Alabama, where temperatures have recovered into the low 70s. Additional showers and a few thunderstorms will likely develop ahead of a cold front over the western side of the state over the new few hours, moving eastward this evening.
CLEARING: The sky will clear across Alabama over the next 6 hours as dry air punches into the state from the west. We project a low mostly in the mid 30s early tomorrow, but a few colder spots could see a light freeze.
RADAR CHECK: A band of rain is over parts of East and South Alabama early this morning, generally south of a line from Centre to Calera to Demopolis. This rain is in response to a wave moving along a stalled front over South Alabama… as the wave moves eastward the rain will end by mid-morning, and the sky becomes mostly sunny statewide this afternoon.
RADAR CHECK: Showers are pretty much out of the state this afternoon… we are seeing just a few patches of drizzle over East Alabama. The sky is clearing over the northwest counties, and all of the state will be clear tonight. We expect a low in the upper 40s for most places early tomorrow morning.
