VERY PLEASANT JUNE DAY: Temperatures are in the 57-64 degree range across North/Central Alabama early this morning, and we project a high around 80 degrees today. Many places north of Birmingham will hold in the 70s all day. The average high for Birmingham on June 16 is 88. The sky will be partly sunny, and showers once again will be few and far between in the relatively dry airmass over the state.
PLEASANT DAY: A strong upper trough is squeezing out a few showers over Alabama early this morning; these showers will end by mid-morning, and the sky becomes mostly sunny with a high in the mid 60s this afternoon. The average high for November 19 at Birmingham is 64.
COMFORTABLE AFTERNOON: Temperatures are 5-10 degrees below average across Alabama this afternoon with readings mostly in the upper 70s and low 80s; lower dew points are making the day feel almost like early fall. There are basically no showers on radar statewide at mid-afternoon; we will hang on to the chance of a few isolated showers over East and Southeast Alabama this evening. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 60s.
With a good supply of sunshine, we expect a high in the low 80s today. While most of the state will be dry, note we are going to see a few isolated showers over the eastern third of the state this afternoon and this evening in response to a weak disturbance rotating down the back side of the upper trough over the eastern third of the nation.
ACTIVE DAY TOMORROW: A surface low will be near St. Louis tomorrow with Alabama in a moist, unstable airmass. SPC maintains the standard “slight risk” of severe storms over the western side of Alabama, with a “marginal risk” to the east.
Temperatures are mostly in the 47-52 degree range early this morning across Alabama with a fair sky. We project pleasant spring weather today and tomorrow with a mix of sun and clouds both days; the high today will be between 68 and 71, followed by mid 70s tomorrow.
PLEASANT AFTERNOON: With a sunny sky, temperatures are in the 50s and 60s across the northern half of Alabama this afternoon.
