SUN, HEAT, STORMS: Hot, humid weather will continue across Alabama through the weekend, which is exactly what you expect in July. And, every day we will deal with “scattered, mostly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms”. They have been few and far between over the past two days across North/Central Alabama, but they should increase in number today as moisture and instability values are expected to be higher. We start the day with a mostly sunny sky this morning, but during the afternoon and evening hours, random, scattered showers and thunderstorms will form in the moist, unstable airmass. Most of them will come from 1:00 until 9:00 p.m… and odds of any one spot getting wet are around 30 percent. The high will be in 89-92 degree range for most communities.

TIS THE SEASON: Alabama’s weather won’t change much through the weekend. Look for the typical summer weather… hot humid days with a mix of sun and clouds, and scattered, random showers and thunderstorms. Most of the storms will come during the afternoon and evening hours, although a late night or morning shower sure can’t be ruled out. No way of knowing in advance when and where the storms fire up; you just have to keep a close eye on radar trends if you have something planned outside. MORNING SUN, AFTERNOON STORMS: The upper ridge over the southern U.S. will weaken a bit in coming days… this means a general increase in the number of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. Chance of any one community seeing rain today is around 50 percent, and close to 60 percent tomorrow and Friday. Most of the storms will come from about 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m. Otherwise, look for a mix of sun and clouds each day with a high between 88 and 91 degrees.
