RADAR CHECK: Most of the state is dry this morning, but showers are over far South Alabama due to a tropical disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico. Look for a mix of sun and clouds today with a few scattered showers or thunderstorms by afternoon ahead of a cold front. Temperatures will reach the 85-88 degree range today… the average high for Birmingham on September 8 is 88.

ON THE MAPS: We have a stalled surface boundary near I-59 early this morning; north of that front temperatures have fallen into the low 60s in many places. But, south of the boundary temperatures are ten degrees warmer in the more humid air. The radar is quiet early this morning, but we expect scattered showers and storms to form later today south of the front with a mix of sun and clouds. Chance of any one spot getting wet today is 30/40 percent, and the high will be in the mid 80s.

RADAR CHECK: It is a mixed bag of weather across Alabama; the sky is mostly sunny across the Tennessee Valley, and also the southeast part of the state, but scattered showers and storms continue over central counties. they are moving eastward and and producing moderate to heavy rain in a few spots along with some lightning. Temperatures are mostly in the 80s; we will maintain the chance of showers tonight, although they should diminish after sunset.

RADAR CHECK: A batch of showers and storms is moving through the Tuscaloosa/Birmingham areas early this morning as I write this just before sunrise. Otherwise, the rest of the state is dry with temperatures mostly in the low to mid 70s. There is a stalled surface front just north of I-59, and it won’t move much through Wednesday, meaning we will have the chance of scattered showers and storms around over the southern 2/3 of the state.

Look for a mix of sun and clouds today with a high in the mid 80s, but we will mention the potential for scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and early tonight as a surface boundary drops into the state from the north.
