RADAR CHECK: Stronger thunderstorms across Alabama at mid-afternoon are over the southeast counties, in the broad zone between Troy and Dothan. Showers continue across the Tennessee Valley, and stronger storms are moving into the northwest part of the state. Otherwise, we have a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures mostly in the 80s, although some places are in the 70s where clouds have been persistent today.
MUGGY MAY DAYS: The weather transition continues from the active, changeable days of spring to the stagnant days of summer across Alabama. We just don’t expect much change through tomorrow as a blanket of moist air remains parked over the state. The sun will be out at times, highs will be in the 80s, and showers and storms will form during the afternoon and evening hours.
RADAR CHECK: Scattered showers and storms are in progress, mainly over the western half of Alabama this afternoon. Heavier storms are over the northwest corner of the state, where there is heavy rain, gusty winds, and possibly some small hail. Otherwise, we have a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures mostly in the 80s.
RADAR CHECK: Scattered showers are moving across Alabama early this morning, otherwise the sky is mostly cloudy with temperatures generally between 65 and 72 degrees. We are forecasting a warm, humid day ahead with a mix of sun and clouds. A few additional showers or storms could form this afternoon, but they should be widely spaced. An organized mass of storms over Tennessee could slip into North Alabama tonight; SPC has the Tennessee Valley in a “marginal risk” (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms tonight for the potential for hail and strong, gusty winds.
RADAR CHECK: Areas of light rain continue across the northern 2/3 of Alabama this afternoon with a mostly cloudy sky. The rain has been diminishing over the past few hours, and that trend will continue with only isolated showers around tonight. Temperatures are only in the upper 50s over the Tennessee Valley at mid-afternoon; South Alabama communities are in the mid 70s.
RADAR CHECK: Rain has returned to much of North and Central Alabama early this morning ahead of a northward moving warm front. There will be periods of rain this morning, followed by another chance of widely scattered showers or storms this afternoon and this evening. The most widespread rain today will come during the morning hours
RADAR CHECK: Widespread rain continues this afternoon across Southeast Alabama (generally south and east of Montgomery), but the rest of the state is dry with a mostly cloudy sky. Temperatures are mostly in the 60s, well below average for late April in Alabama. The average high for Birmingham on April 27 is 78.
RADAR CHECK: We have a few scattered showers across Alabama this afternoon, but the rain is not especially widespread, and the southern counties are seeing a decent amount of sun. Temperatures range from the 60s over North Alabama, to the low to mid 80s down south where the sun is out. We will maintain the chance of a few scattered showers and thunderstorms statewide tonight.
RADAR CHECK: Showers are over the northern third of Alabama early this morning; those are moving eastward and will be in Georgia by mid-morning. Additional scattered showers and thunderstorms will form this afternoon and tonight, but it certainly won’t rain all day today and you might see a peek or two of sun this afternoon. The high today will be in the 68-74 degree range.

SHOWERS RETURN LATER TODAY/TONIGHT: Alabama remains dry early this morning, but we are watching a band of rain and storms along the Mississippi River to the west. That activity will likely fizzle out this morning, but new showers will form this afternoon, moving into the northwest part of the state.
RADAR CHECK: Scattered showers persist over North Alabama this afternoon with a mostly cloudy sky… temperatures there are in the 60s. But, to the south, the sky is partly too mostly sunny over the southern counties of the state with 70s. Showers will fade this evening, and the sky will become mostly fair statewide.
RADAR CHECK: Showers are in progress early this morning across parts of North and Central Alabama, under an upper low that is moving northeast. We will maintain the chance of scattered showers through the day with a mostly cloudy sky… expect a high in the 67-73 degree range this afternoon. The average high for Birmingham on April 14 is 75.
RADAR CHECK: Showers and thunderstorms continue to increase across Alabama this afternoon… heavier storms are producing small hail and gusty winds as they move northward. SPC maintains a “slight risk” (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms for areas east and south of a line from Ashland to Greenville to Geneva. A “marginal risk” extends as far north as Winfield, Cullman, and Centre.
