RADAR CHECK: A weakening band of showers is pushing through the Tennessee Valley early this morning… the rest of the state is dry with temperatures mostly in the 60s. Look for a mix of sun and clouds today with a high in the 77-81 degree range; showers are possible, but they should be widely spaced, and much of the day will be dry.
WARMER TODAY: Look for a high around 80 degrees this afternoon with a partially sunny sky. Low 80s are likely tomorrow as the warming trend continues, but a significant severe weather threat is ahead for Alabama tomorrow night.
FOGGY START: A dense fog advisory is in effect for the northern 2/3 of Alabama early this morning, but once that fog dissipates we expect a very nice springy, with ample sunshine along with a high in the mid 70s this afternoon. It will be the warmest day of the week. Clouds return tonight ahead of the next storm system.
NICE WARM-UP TODAY: Temperatures are mostly in the 30-40 degree range across Alabama, but a few colder spots over the eastern counties are in the upper 20s. Look for a high in the 60s today with a partly to mostly sunny sky. Clouds increase tonight ahead of an approaching upper trough.
WILD RIDE AHEAD: Get ready for a wild ride on the Alabama weather roller coaster. We are enjoying a beautiful day today with ample sunshine and temperatures in the 60s… we rise into the mid to upper 70s tomorrow with a mix of sun and clouds. It will be the warmest day of the week, but don’t get used to it. A sharp cold front will bring rain and storms to the state tomorrow night, and some of the storms could be severe over the southern half of the state.
WARMER: Clouds linger across Alabama this morning with a few isolated showers, but the sky becomes partly to mostly sunny later this morning, and temperatures should rise into the upper 60s this afternoon as a temporary warming trend begins. We reach the mid 70s tomorrow with a mix of sun and clouds, but the warmth won’t last long. A cold front moves into the state tomorrow night with rain and thunderstorms…
ACTIVE PATTERN CONTINUES: A warm front has moved out of Alabama early this morning; radar shows a few showers over the Tennessee Valley just before daybreak… the rest of the state is cloudy with temperatures not too far from 60 degrees. Look for a high in the mid 70s today with a few scattered showers around during the morning and midday hours. Then, strong to severe thunderstorms are possible ahead of a cold front this evening and tonight over parts of North and West Alabama.
CALM DAYS: Dry weather will continue across Alabama today… with a partly to mostly sunny sky we expect a high in the mid 50s this afternoon. The average high for Birmingham on January 24 is 55. Clouds will increase tonight, and a disturbance has the potential to bring some light rain to the southern third of the state tomorrow. The best chance of rain tomorrow will be along and south of U.S. 84… most of North and Central Alabama will be dry despite a cloud cover.
WARMING TREND CONTINUES THIS AFTERNOON: Temperatures are all over the board early this morning across Alabama… just before sunrise Gadsden is below freezing at 29, but just 50 miles to the southwest Birmingham reports 48 degrees. The sky will be partly to mostly sunny today, and the warming trend resumes this afternoon we expect a high in the mid to upper 60s.
PLEASANT AFTERNOON: As expected, after a sub-freezing start temperatures have warmed nicely across Alabama this afternoon… most communities are in the 58-62 degree range with a sunny sky. Tonight will be fair and not as cold as last night… we expect a low in the upper 30s and low 40s early tomorrow morning.
ANOTHER BIG WARM-UP TODAY: A few spots over Northeast Alabama are below freezing early this morning, otherwise temperatures are mostly in the 30s and 40s. Today will be another sunny day with a big warm-up… the high this afternoon will be in the mid to upper 60s. The average high for Birmingham on December 14 is 57.
THIS AFTERNOON: We have more clouds than sun across much of Alabama, but showers are confined to Mobile and Baldwin counties at mid-afternoon, close to a front near the Gulf Coast. Temperatures over the northern half of the state are in the 58-64 degree range.
BIG CHANGES AHAED: With a clear sky, temperatures are mostly in the 30s across the northern half of Alabama this morning, with 40s over the southern counties. Today will be partly sunny with a high in the 60s; clouds will increase late in the day as a surface front near the Gulf Coast begins to lift northward. A few showers are likely late tonight across the state as the front moves through; a rumble of thunder is possible, no severe storms are expected.
BIG WARM-UP: We are starting off the day around the freezing mark across much of North/Central Alabama, but we expect a big warm-up today with sunshine in full supply… the high will be in the 65-70 degree range this afternoon. Tomorrow will be another sunny day with a high around 70 degrees.
