WET WEATHER CONTINUES: Rain is fairly widespread across Alabama early this morning, and periods of rain will continue through tonight. A flash flood watch remains in effect for areas north of a line from Mobile to Montgomery to Opelika.
WET: We will have elevated rain chances across Alabama through the beginning of the weekend, and the flash flood watch has been expanded. It is now in effect for areas generally north of a line from Mobile to Montgomery to Opelika.
RADAR CHECK: Most of Alabama is rain-free this afternoon with a bit of filtered sunshine. Clouds will thicken again tonight, with rain possible at times, mainly after midnight.
RADAR CHECK: We have mostly light rain falling across parts of West and South Alabama this morning, otherwise the sky is cloudy with temperatures in the 47-57 degree range as the day begins. Today will be cloudy with some light rain, mainly during the morning hours. Temperatures rise into the 60s statewide this afternoon as the big thaw continues.
RADAR CHECK: Light rain is falling across South Alabama early this morning, where temperatures are in the 38-45 degree range. North Alabama is dry but colder with temperatures mostly in the mid to upper 20s at daybreak.
RADAR CHECK: This is a cloudy, cool Friday with patchy light rain over the southern half of the state at mid-afternoon. We note a few peeks of sun over the Tennessee Valley… temperatures are in the 57-65 degree range over the northern counties, with low to mid 70s over South Alabama. Tonight will be cloudy with some light rain at times.
RADAR CHECK: Rain is widespread this afternoon across much of North and West Alabama, along and north of the slow moving front draped across the state. Again today we have a wide range of temperatures… at 2:00p CT Haleyville reports 49 degrees with rain, while Dothan is enjoying a mostly sunny sky and 83 degrees.
RADAR CHECK: We have widespread rain early this morning along and north of a very slow moving surface front across Central Alabama. Rain will slowly expand southward today, and once again we will have a big thermal contrast with temperatures ranging from the 60s across North Alabama to the 80s over the southern third of the state. Some thunder is possible, but no severe storms are expected.
RADAR CHECK: Rain is fairly widespread over the northern half of Alabama early this morning; we note a few strong thunderstorms as well with small hail. Rain will end from northwest to southeast later this morning as dry air begins to arrive, and by afternoon showers will be confined to the southern counties.
RADAR CHECK: Rain continues across much of Alabama early this morning, and as expected gradient winds (not related to thunderstorms) are strong over the northern half of the state. Winds have gusted to 35 mph at Birmingham within the hour. While the rain will taper off over North and West Alabama later today, wet weather persists across the southern counties of the the state this afternoon.
WINDY, WET NIGHT AHEAD: A dynamic weather system will bring widespread rain to Alabama tonight, along with strong gradient winds, not related to thunderstorms. There is a chance that unstable air could creep into the southwest corner of Alabama, and SPC maintains an “enhanced risk” (level 3/5) of severe thunderstorms for areas south of a line from Millry to Brewton.
RADAR CHECK: This has been a cold, cloudy, wet day for Alabama, and rain continues to fall this afternoon mainly along and south of I-20. Rain will end this evening as a disturbance in the northern Gulf moves northeast. Temperatures are in the 40-45 degree range for most communities this afternoon; the average high for Birmingham on December 20 is 56.
RADAR CHECK: Showers are widespread over the northern half of Alabama early this morning, north of a surface front over South Alabama. The front will be moving slowly northward as a warm front, and occasional showers are likely across North/Central Alabama through tonight.
RAIN FOR EAST ALABAMA TONIGHT: Tropical Storm Nicole will bring breezy and wet weather to the eastern half of Alabama tonight and tomorrow morning. Most of the rain will we east of I-65, with the heavier amounts (around one inch) near the Georgia state line. Showers across West Alabama tonight will be light and spotty.
