At 748 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Ider, or 13 miles north of Fort Payne, moving east at 40 mph.

At 726 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Pisgah, or 12 miles east of Scottsboro, moving east at 25 mph.
RADAR CHECK: We have a few widely scattered showers over mainly the western half of Alabama at mid-afternoon; temperatures are in the mid to upper 80s with a mix of sun and clouds. We note Dothan has reached 91 degrees.
Today we are seeing a mix of sun and clouds and very warm temperatures with temperatures well into the mid and upper 80s this afternoon. Scattered, random showers and storms will once again be on the radar this afternoon and evening across the state.
FEELS LIKE SUMMER: A humid airmass covers Alabama this morning with temperatures mostly in the 70s at daybreak. With a partly sunny sky temperatures rise into the mid to upper 80s this afternoon, and a few scattered showers and storms will form during the heat of the day.
QUIET AFTERNOON: Not much on radar across Alabama this afternoon… with a partly sunny sky temperatures are generally in the mid to upper 80s. A few isolated showers or storms could form this evening or tonight, however.
A major severe weather outbreak is expected today and tonight across the Plains. Multiple strong, long-tracked tornadoes, as well as very large hail and severe thunderstorms gusts are expected.
RADAR CHECK: Showers and thunderstorms are moving across the northern quarter of Alabama early this morning… heavier storms are producing small hail and gusty winds. We also note a few isolated showers over South Alabama, south of Montgomery. Otherwise, we expect a mix of sun and clouds today with a few widely scattered showers or storms around this afternoon.
